About "Golf and Tourism in Greece"

The magazine "Golf & Tourism in Greece" is the only publication in the country which deals with the sport of golf and, at the same time, stresses the importance of golf as an attraction for tourists.

The magazine is printed in 20.000 copies, 5.000 of which are mailed abroad. We plan to increase the circulation to 25.000 during 2004, according to the number of advertisements we hope to obtain for our next issue.

"Golf & Tourism in Greece" is distributed throughout the country to major national and multinational companies, hotels, airlines, banks, government officials, foreign embassies and top businessmen.

Abroad it is sent to the official tourist offices of the Greek State, to golfing societies and clubs, to travel agencies, to professional golf associations, to golf investment companies and to important golf personalities.

The development of tourist golf will trigger, if it has not already done so, considerable investments in golfing resorts, not only in the mainland but also in the Greek islands. Two new golf courses are already operating, The Crete Golf Club, near Heraklion in the island of Grete, and the Porto Carras golf course, in Halkidiki, near Thessaloniki. Three important golf resort enterprises, in Messinia in the Peloponese the Navarino Golf Resort of TEMES S.A. (3 golf courses), in the island of Crete, the Cavo Sidero of Lowalword Ltd. (4 golf courses) and the Albatross Golf Resort near Igoumenitsa are progressing.

Several other projects are on the drawing board. It is possible that soon, other investors will start similar enterprises elsewhere in Greece. It has also been proved that the circulation of "Golf & Tourism in Greece" abroad has resulted in an increase of the numbers of foreign golfers visiting the existing courses in the country. In fact, the magazine has opened a new golf market: Greece.
