An Encounter with Golf
Article – Photos: Kostas Lousis
Twenty-six French women, members of the Association Athènes Acceuil, and organization that welcomes French citizens who have recently settled in Greece, became acquainted with the sport of golf at the Glyfada Golf Club on Wednesday, 16 April.
The event was initiated by avid golfer Anny Cousté, a member of the Association’s board of directors and a player at the Glyfada Club since her arrival in Athens.
"For some time now I’ve been thinking of organizing a getting-to-know golf day for the women members of the Athènes Acceuil, and that day finally came today. I’m very pleased about it. I love golf and I want as many people as possible to learn about it. After all, once they get to know golf, most people fall in love with it instantly," Ms. Cousté enthusiastically remarked. She has been golfing for two decades and has spent many pleasant times on courses in England, Scotland, France, Argentina and the Emirates.
Anny Cousté moved to Athens in 2006 and immediately began playing at the Glyfada course with her husband Patrick Cousté, CEO at the Geniki Bank.

Golf - "The Great Leveller"
The recent Diplomats Golf Scramble Competition held at the Glyfada Golf Club of Athens was a fine example of how the game of golf is "The Great Leveller" and can truly be played universally.
……"Play the course as you find it and the ball as it lies"…..
is the spirit of the game of golf.
